Program Description

Hard skills alone are no longer enough, and on-the-job training is a scarce resource in fast-paced offices. The workplace has always required teams who work well together and can solve challenging situations and celebrate success. Everyone is expected to juggle more no matter the role and experience and organizations want to retain talented staff.

Becoming an effective professional begins with the foundational approaches and shared values where teams operate with similar respect and understanding of their organizational systems. Adopting best workplace practices assures you are viewed as a positive contributor which can lead to more responsibility and growth.

Pillars of Workplace Excellence is an action-oriented, cost-effective certificate program that invests in developing employees to succeed in today’s workplace. Through eight, 60-minute modules, participants learn tools that strengthen their performance and contributions while building a network of fellow colleagues.

By the End of This Program, Participants Will:

●       Communicate and collaborate more effectively across cultures and organizational levels

●       Navigate workplace hierarchy in support of leadership and organizational goals

●       Learn and apply practical tools from the program to their daily work

How the Program Works:

●       Eight live, facilitator-led sessions on Zoom, designed to be interactive, with chat, breakout rooms, and "camera-on" participation

●       Mandatory attendance, with make-up options for up to two missed sessions

●       ~30 minutes of pre-session material per week, so live sessions focus on discussion and practice

●       Real-world workplace scenarios, so skills are practiced in situations participants actually face

●       Practical tools for immediate use on the job

●       A weekly workbook to capture key takeaways and apply them to your own role

●       Final Action and Impact Plan

Cohort Schedule (weekly sessions, Wednesdays, 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. ET)

  • Winter Cohort: January 6-February 24; Register by December 18
  • Summer Cohort: July 7-August 25
  • Fall Cohort: October 20-December 15 (no session Thanksgiving week)
  • Limited to 25 participants per cohort for personalized attention and interaction

Managing time and workload, prioritizing by impact and adopting a solution-first mindset. Anticipating needs, offering options to manage challenges and supporting decision-making structures.

How I Communicate: Purposeful and Nuanced Communication

Developing and maintaining professional, effective, and culturally-appropriate communication across all written and in-person platforms.

Working with Others: Collaborative Teamwork and Professional Boundaries

Sharing credit, contributing equitably to successes, and maintaining healthy distinctions between workplace and personal relationships in support of office and self-wellness.

Navigating the Environment: Practicing Professional Presence

Reading formal and informal norms, showing support for the organization through appropriate channels, and remaining curious and agile as a professional resource and asset.

Dealing with Situations: Emotional Intelligence and Conflict Management

Managing personal reactions under stress and address conflicts constructively while considering intercultural dynamics.

Giving and Getting Feedback: Results Orientation and Role Clarity

Focusing on meaningful outcomes and understanding how your role supports the organization’s mission, hierarchy and career growth.

Final Session

Wrap up a productive learning experience with your cohort and put the finishing touches on your personal action plan.  Discuss real-world applications of the content and create intentions for change.
